Lastly, Dino making the millennia old succubus devolve into childish “fuck you”s still isn’t as impressive to me because DmC’s demons aren’t nearly as classical and refined as the ones from DMC try to come off. If we really want to dig deep you can look at SMT III: Nocturne where he pulls the same trick on the Demi-Fiend where recruiting him will either cost half of his macca he has on him if he choses tails or only a single coin if he goes heads (if you were really being wild with it you could say it’s because tails aren’t a human trait and he’s testing the Demi-Fiend on just how much of his humanity remains) even if he kinda breaks character to help you no matter what ending you choose. He purposely bets heads in order to keep Lucia from going into Hell through making her believe it was up to chance until it was too late as to avoid the likely argument. He’s still willing to put himself in danger’s way in order to save others from it or to just be generous while having some fun with it. Regarding the gimmicks, just the simplicity of both sides of his trick coin being heads does add some depth to him in 2 imo. He clearly just met another showboat and he’s loving it. Anybody else would’ve done something even slightly more effective in that situation even if it wouldn’t have actually hurt him. Even the soundtrack is very similar to Marvel films.Ĭontinuing down the path of looking in too deep of the storyline you could really say that “Cool guy” Dante doesn’t turn into “Woohoo Pizza” Dante in DMC4 until the moment Nero dropkicks him in the face. There is really no subtlety and artistry in media anymore. At the same time, oversaturating its image with excessive violence to keep up with the numerous games that are just as gory to the point that the violence makes no sense. The problem is that NRS is trying to make Mortal Kombat as Western/American as possible by comparing the series to Marvel/DC films, so they gave more attention to the Special Forces, but make the other characters like Liu Kang, Kitana, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion appear out of obligation. Even the 3D era of MK showed this same respect, though the fighting styles were largely inaccurate. This was the image that Midway wanted for MK. All the while, camp and humor were sprinkled into the mix. Also, the themes, much like MK, ranged from morally grey to completely dark. Then as they use their last move, they perform a quick execution/fatality to kill their opponent. The fighting scenes were artistic and ranged in speed, with some drops of blood here or there. It was initially a callback to old school martial arts films and Hollywood films that appreciated them at the time. The developers of NRS have absolutely no love and appreciation for what made Mortal Kombat the way it was in the first place. I tried some easy characters but we discovered that i inherited the Shun Di gameplay that much to be better with him instead of easy characters even if i am relatively weak in that game.Īll of this time, I couldn't figure out my issue with this series until I took a chance to go back to Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. One day i asked for advice for other characters i could have played and they said to me that Shun Di is one of the hardest characters to play due to his "have to drink to unlock some moves" gimmick. The best players of that community wiped my ass (and those of who weren't so strong like me) many times but with a """"group of friend"""" it's still fun even jf you lose like every time in this type of games. I played just a little couple of months but during that time i entered in a little vf community and i played with them. But something like 2 years ago i seen vf5 showdown free for the ps4 with ps plus and i downloaded it. As many kids i wasn't so good at fighting games, but i had fun with that game. When i was a kid back then i had Vf4 for ps2 and i mained him because i found him to be the funniest character to use. Not because i think he's objectively the best, only for emotive meanings. My personal favourite out of them is surely Shun Di.
